Moriches
1 / 1The brief was straightforward for this house: “my family wants a wide open first floor with rooms connected to each other and wide open views throughout the house and to the bay. We love cozy, private bedrooms too. We love mid-century Modern, but also classic Shingle Style houses of the 1800’s. . . . Can we do that?” Here’s the result – crisp, clean, modern geometries evoking classic East Coast houses with private bedrooms dramatically cantilevered on four massive piers over a wide open first floor.

Navesink
1 / 1Set high on the bluffs above the Navesink River, this cottage is a simple essay of four gabled forms. An eight-columned pavilion accentuates the view to the river at the main entrance and connects the pair of bedroom gables with the living gables. The largest gable form is a single great room with oversized chimney for indoor and outdoor fireplaces and open connections to a garden court and riverside porch. The other three hold mudroom and garages, the master bedroom, and the children’s bedrooms. A guest bedroom, spa, play room, and pool rounds out the lower level.
